The name TUMBLE WEEDS derives from famed bookshop owner George Whitman's idea that writers, artists, and intellectuals are like vagabonds who need a place to shelter when on their travels from place to place. True to his word, he celebrated this notion by founding Shakespeare and Company, small independent book store on the Left Bank in Paris, France in 1951.
TUMBLE WEEDS PRESS borrows from Whitman's conviction that writers, artists, and intellectuals do indeed need a home. In the case, of Tumble Weeds Press, it is another type a refuge. Instead of a bookshop, this refuge put forth is on the Internet. Instead of a hot meal, a rack, and a place to stay, this enterprise instead seeks to give writers, artists, and intellectuals a place to publish their work. Whether it be in print, podcasts, or DVDs.
